The Best Things to do in 48 hours in Sydney

While two days in this stunning city will leave you wanting more, it’s still enough time to see some of what Sydney has to offer. Pick and choose from these adventures to experience a slice of Sydney life.

Bondi to Bronte Walk

Put on your comfy shoes for an outdoor adventure along this incredible 3.5km cliff walk. Starting near the Icebergs pool, follow the coast to Bronte where you can reward yourself with a bite to eat at one of Bronte’s trendy cafes. Don’t miss the incredible cemetery on the Bronte headland, and remember to pack your swimmers and a towel for a refreshing dip.

Feed the Fish at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium

Home to 12,000 animals, including sharks, turtles, stingrays, penguins, tropical fish and a dugong; you can walk underwater through glass viewing tunnels. To get closer to your tropical fishy friends, take the 30-minute guided tour where you’ll help the staff with their daily feedings.

White Rabbit Gallery, Chippendale

Featuring contemporary Chinese art, this beauty in Chippendale has jaw-dropping exhibitions that sit superbly in the space. When you’re done, you can relax at the tea house and peruse the unique gifts downstairs.

Have Breakfast With the Koala's

Have a hot buffet breakfast on Koala Rooftop, then listen to a koala keeper tell you all about these marvellous marsupials. Have your picture taken close to a Koala, then go on a guided highlights tour of the Zoo so you can see the animals when they're most active.

City Strolling and Shopping

Head to Oxford Street for a spot of shopping, and explore the boutiques at The Intersection, on the Glenmore Road corner. When you’ve got some goodies, keep wandering through the gorgeous backstreets of Darlinghurst and Surry Hills.

Watch the Sunset From Sydney Tower Eye

250 metres above street level, the Observation Deck of the Sydney Tower Eye is the last place in Sydney to see final dusk. Locally referred to as ‘Centrepoint,’ you can watch the sunset and city lights with an incredible 360-degree view of Sydney.

Cabramatta Food Tour

This suburb of Sydney sits 50-minutes from the CBD by car or train. As the city’s thriving Vietnamese food centre, there’s fabulous fare everywhere; try a bowl of fragrant bun bo hue and a coffee with condensed milk.

Royal Botanic Gardens

Sprawling over 30-hectares in the heart of the city, these gardens are blooming lovely. Featuring native plants, greenhouses, succulents and ponds, remember to look up for a glimpse of a resident bat. Don’t miss The Calyx, which houses the largest indoor green wall in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Rocks

The oldest area of Sydney, this charming neighbourhood boasts historic laneways, as well as the city’s oldest pubs. Stroll through the Rocks Markets for a selection of handmade items, then visit the world-class Museum of Contemporary Art. Listen out for the buskers on the harbourfront.

Manly

From Circular Quay, you can catch a ferry to Manly, an iconic 30-minute trip that delivers second-to-none views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, as well as north and south heads. When you get to Manly, grab an ice cream and continue walking to Shelly Beach for a dip or a snorkel.
