Frequently
Asked
Questions

Here you'll find the answers to some of the most common questions asked by guests at Sydney Aquarium and through our Call Centre.

Do you have a cloakroom?

Sydney Aquarium doesn't currently have any storage space to take bags, luggage or prams.

Can my children ride scooters or rollerblades inside the attraction?

No. We need to be mindful of the safety of our guests at all times.

What is the Glass Bottom Boat?

The Glass Bottom Boat is a 10-15 minute behind-the-scenes tour of our huge Great Barrier Reef oceanarium. The glass bottom will help you get an incredible view of 100's of tropical fish and some of the reef's more famous predators, sharks, as well as sawfish and other cool animals found on the real reef.

Do you have a family ticket?

Family tickets are ONLY available online. They are not available for purchase at the attraction. Sydney Aquarium also offers a family Merlin Annual Pass, giving 2 adults and 2 children unlimited entry to all Merlin attractions in Sydney, the rest of Australia and New Zealand. Click here to find out more about the Merlin Annual Pass.

How many visits does my ticket allow me into Sydney Aquarium?

Standard tickets are valid for one entry into the attraction.

Do we have to enter Sydney Aquarium straight after purchasing our tickets?

No. You may enter at a later time on that day, however this is a one entry ticket which must be used on the day of issue.

Is it a guided tour?

No. Sydney Aquarium is a self guided tour. However, guided tours are available. If you would like to book a guided tour or a VIP guided tour please call the Reservations team on (02) 8251 7800.

You say 'save up to 40%' on this website, so how do I get those tickets?

Our General Admission (Single Visit) online tickets are priced according to the time and date you want to visit. As with other tickets that are sold online, from flights to theme park passes or hotel rooms, the best prices are available during off peak times, such as late afternoons or weekdays (although we do occasionally run special discounts during peak times too). That's not to say that visiting at those times is any different in terms of experience, as we strive to offer all of our guests a great experience, no matter when they visit. Aside from the biggest discounts we offer during off peak times, we also guarantee to ALWAYS offer a minimum 10% discount on General Admission tickets when you buy on this website, so you'll save money no matter when you want to visit. And there's no booking fees either, so there are no nasty surprises when it comes to purchasing.  Click to view General Admission tickets.

What age are Children?

A child is considered 4 - 15 years. 3s and under enter Sydney Aquarium free of charge.

Is there food inside?

Sydney Aquarium has a snack bar midway throughout the attraction for paying guests, and we also have food outlets in our main foyer, which are open to paying guests and all members of the public visiting Darling Harbour.

Is there a family room inside?

There is a family room located mid-way through Sydney Aquarium and also at the Sydney Aquarium gift store.

Can children visit the attraction without supervision?

No. A child must enter the attraction with an adult (16 years and above) for safety reasons.

Do you have to use your tickets in one day?

Single admissions (Single Visit tickets) are valid for one entry and must be used on the date and time specified during the online booking process (if applicable).

How do the combination passes work?

Our combination passes offer you one entry into each of the attractions included on your chosen pass. When you buy a combination pass here on the Sydney Aquarium website, you will be required to select a date for your visit. This is the date for your Sydney Aquarium visit ONLY. From the date you select for your Sydney Aquarium visit, you will then have 30 days to visit the other attractions included on the combination pass you have chosen. The reason you must visit Sydney Aquarium FIRST when you buy any combination pass on this website is because it is upon arrival at Sydney Aquarium where your tickets to the other attractions are issued to you. The other attractions are unable to issue those tickets from their ticketing systems. You can then use them to gain entry at the other attraction/s on the same day as your Sydney Aquarium visit if you wish, or on a date within 30 days from that point. Likewise, if you buy a combination pass which includes Sydney Aquarium on the website of one of the other attractions (WILD LIFE Sydney, Sydney Tower Eye, Oceanworld Manly or Madame Tussauds Sydney), then you will need to visit whichever attraction you bought the pass from first, on the date specified by you when you made the booking. You will then have 30 days to visit Sydney Aquarium and the other attractions. Click to go to the Combo Passes.

Note: If you are using our 'best price combo creator' tool, it will find the best price for you. For example, if you select 2 Adults + 2 Children, it will take you to the Family ticket.
