Seals in the wild tend to live to about 16 to 18 years of age but in captivity their life expectancy is increased. Some of the seals who live in our Sanctuary are in their late 20’s.

| Sydney Aquarium’s Seal Sanctuary is home to many animals which have either been injured, orphaned, have lost their original home or who, for some reason, cannot be returned to the wild.

When boating, don’t throw any waste overboard, and use pump out stations for toilet waste. Keep an eye on the boat motor for fuel or oil leaks and have them repaired as soon as possible.
